Abstract

Summary
Although pharmacists can help prevent adverse events associated with medication errors, there is lack of researches analyzing the actions of pharmaceutical specialists in the cases of prescription inaccuracies in Lithuania. The aim of this research is to disclose the actions of pharmaceutical specialists, working at community pharmacies, in the cases of prescription inaccuracies and the factors, influencing these actions in Lithuania. Methods: quantitative research – structural questionnaire for pharmaceutical specialists. Results: 73,8 percent (95 percent CI 69,2-78,4)  of respondents contact with physicians in the cases of prescription inaccuracies. Seniority, education, verification of pharmaceutical information (drug concentration), pharmacy management policy in the case of postgraduate education promotion and relationship among co-workers had influenced their intention to contact with physician in the cases of prescription inaccuracies.
Conclusion: every second pharmaceutical specialist is contacting with physician in the cases of prescription inaccuracies; the actions of pharmaceutical specialist were influenced by demographic and personal characteristics of pharmaceutical specialist, but not buy geographical location of pharmacy.
