Abstract

Obstructive sleep apnea affects a large proportion of working-age people. It causes symptoms, physical and psychological consequences not only for patients but the entire health sector. Obstructive sleep apnea contributes to the pathogenesis of systemic diseases such as arterial hypertension, myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, or diabetes. A lot of attention is paid to more accurate and patient-oriented diagnostic and treatment methods. Drug-induced sleep endoscopy is one of those instruments. Results of surgical treatment are generally better when surgery is performed on the basis of data collected via drug-induced sleep endoscopy. Also, comparing the results of sleep endoscopy before and after surgery can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the procedures performed.
