Abstract
Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are rare overall but the most common malignant mesenchymal tumors in the gastrointestinal tract. The decisive factor for the diagnosis in addition to objective symptoms is the expression of the proto-oncogene KIT (CD117) receptor. The most common treatment is surgical resection, preceded by neoadjuvant therapy. In this clinical case we present a 55 year old patient’s who is diagnosed with a giant gastric GIST, effectiveness of systemic treatment.
