Abstract

The article provides a survey of experience in the application of blended teaching/learning approach using the Moodle virtual environment in the training programme of pharmacy assistants and cosmetologists. The aim of the research is to identify characteristic features of students‘work in the virtual learning environment used for blended learning and to overview the experience of chemical laboratory practicals and their assessment through the Moodle virtual learning environment at Kauno kolegija. In the first section of the article the main goal of the blended course pattern, its characteristics and new arising challenges for the majority of teachers are highlighted – the targeted, efficient, and creative use of blended teaching and learning, allowing students to collaborate, actively participate in the teaching/learning process and to achieve the objectives of the study subject in a convenient way. In the second section the empirical research outcomes are analysed. The characteristic features of students work in the virtual learning environment used for blended learning, revealed during the research, the highlighted students‘experience and opinion about the assessment of self-study work in the virtual learning environment will contribute to the change of the educational process in meeting the increased need for students‘ease of studying, associated with the time, pace and place of learning.
